Get ready to thrash and groove like it's 1996 all over again, as ALTERED STATE celebrate the 30TH ANNIVERSARY of Sepultura's tribal metal classic "ROOTS" at AMPLIFIER BAR in PERTH on FRIDAY 5 JUNE, performing the album live and in full, including "Roots Bloody Roots", "Attitude", "Ratamahatta" and "Straighthate", plus an encore of Max-era Sepultura fan faves!

Plus special guests to be announced

Featuring some of Perth's top musicians, ALTERED STATE bring the energy and intensity of Sepultura's live performances to life (who remembers 1994 at the Fremantle Passenger Terminal?).

Don't miss this chance to celebrate 30 years of "ROOTS" and the legacy of Sepultura, one of the greatest metal bands of all time.

Though Sepultura were already metal legends by the time they released Roots in February 1996, it's fair to say that the band’s sixth album was also the one that changed everything. (Gregory Adams, revolvermag.com, 25 February 2026)

Every relevant Thrash Metal band in the world has at least one unique album that redefined that music genre somehow, like Bonded by Blood from Exodus or Reign in Blood from Slayer. In the case of Sepultura, it was Roots that made them reach the top of the charts and become a reference for all future Thrash Metal bands. (Gustavo Scuderi, theheadbangingmoose.com, 20 October 2013)

Leveling up with tribal rhythms, traditional instrumentation and guest vocals from Xavante locals spoke to the band’s love for their native land, while prescient guest spots from members of Korn and Limp Bizkit would ultimately lead many to consider Roots an early nu-metal classic — despite vocalist-guitarist Max Cavalera long-held stance that it is nothing of the sort. (Gregory Adams, revolvermag.com, 25 February 2026)

The chorus of Breed Apart roars at you, “Open up your mind and go your own way!” If the Max era of Sepultura were to have a gravestone, that would be the perfect epitaph. (Matt Mills, guitar.com, 10 May 2023)
