WAYJO NC Mid-Year Showcase

Join us at Lyric’s Underground to support the rising stars of the WAYJO Northern Corridor Training Band as they present their Mid-Year Showcase.

This one-hour performance features a vibrant selection of repertoire developed throughout the semester, spanning blues, swing and contemporary big band styles. It’s an opportunity to hear the next generation of jazz musicians in an intimate setting, as they bring energy, focus and growing musical confidence to the stage.

The Northern Corridor Training Band (WAYJO NC) is designed for high school students looking to extend their skills in big band jazz. Through weekly rehearsals in full big band format, students develop phrasing, articulation, ensemble awareness and foundational improvisation techniques. The program is further enriched by masterclasses, mentoring and performance opportunities, supported by current WAYJO members, WAAPA students and alumni.

Come along and celebrate the progress and promise of these emerging musicians.
