Peter Pan at The Revival House Perth

In Edwardian London, young Wendy Darling (Rachel Hurd-Wood) faces a troubling future—her practical aunt insists she must grow up, leave the nursery, and abandon her beloved stories. That same night, the legendary Peter Pan (Jeremy Sumpter) flies through her window searching for his shadow, accompanied by the jealous fairy Tinker Bell. Peter whisks Wendy and her brothers John and Michael away to Neverland, a magical realm where children never grow old and adventure awaits at every turn. But Neverland harbors danger in the form of the vengeful Captain Hook (Jason Isaacs), a pirate captain obsessed with destroying Peter Pan. As Wendy finds herself caught between childhood and the stirrings of first love, she must help Peter and the Lost Boys face Hook's final assault while confronting the most difficult choice of all—whether to remain forever young or embrace the inevitable journey toward adulthood.

Director P.J. Hogan delivers the most faithful and emotionally resonant adaptation of J.M. Barrie's timeless tale, capturing both its sense of wonder and its underlying melancholy about the passage of time. Jeremy Sumpter makes Peter genuinely childlike—cocky, innocent, and incapable of understanding feelings he can't name—while Rachel Hurd-Wood brings depth to Wendy's awakening maturity. Jason Isaacs brilliantly doubles as both the stern Mr. Darling and the flamboyant Captain Hook, embodying Barrie's thematic connection between fatherhood and authority. The 2003 film's practical effects, wire work, and lush production design create a Neverland that feels tangible and magical, while James Newton Howard's sweeping score soars. This version doesn't shy away from the story's darker elements or its bittersweet truths about growing up.
