International Women’s Day is a great time to make some noise! Join the hollerers from Hengequeens feminist pop choir, the honkers from Clarinerds clarinet ensemble and far-from-home singer-songwriter Alice Cotton (Garramilla/Darwin) for a hollerin’ honkin’ afternoon of music from and for women.
All funds raised at this event support Ruah, who run the Angela Wright Bennett Centre for women and children affected by family violence.

Alice Cotton
Born and raised in the tropical north, NT artist Alice Cotton’s compelling live presence and distinctive songwriting ‘hits you with the depth and breadth of her storytelling’ (triple j). Fresh off a finalist nomination in the NT Music Awards, a scholarship to the CMAA Senior Academy of Country Music,  and the release of her debut EP (produced by Nick Huggins), Alice Cotton is solidifying her place as one of Australia's exciting new voices.  Her genre-crossing approach appeals to fans of Paul Kelly and Stella Donnelly, while her storytelling roots and down-to-earth humour keeps listeners coming back for more.

Clarinerds
Clarinerds is a dynamic Perth/Boorloo-based clarinet ensemble that proves nerdy can be cool! United by a love of reeds and a sense of humor, they mix classical gems with contemporary grooves and unexpected twists that keep audiences smiling. From bass to E-flat, every clarinet gets its moment to shine. Their mission? To spread clarinet joy far and wide!

Hengequeens
Hengequeens is a feminist choir for people marginalised by the patriarchy, singing on Whadjuk country since May 2021. The Queens sing popular and not-so-popular songs in bespoke 3-6 part arrangements. We choose repertoire by, for and about women and people of diverse genders to amplify and promote underrepresented voices, experiences and creative expressions. A pox on setlists full of white dudes!
