From Hell at The Revival House Perth

In the autumn of 1888, London's Whitechapel district is terrorized by a series of brutal murders targeting prostitutes, crimes so savage they capture the world's attention and give birth to the legend of Jack the Ripper. Inspector Frederick Abberline (Johnny Depp), a brilliant detective plagued by opium-fueled psychic visions, is assigned to the case alongside his working-class partner Sergeant Godley (Robbie Coltrane). As Abberline investigates, he develops feelings for Mary Kelly (Heather Graham), a spirited prostitute who befriends the victims and may be next on the killer's list. The deeper Abberline digs, the more he uncovers a conspiracy that reaches into the highest levels of British society—involving Freemasons, the royal family, and secrets worth killing to protect. With each new body, Abberline races against time to unravel a plot that goes far beyond the work of a mere madman.

Directors Albert and Allen Hughes bring Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell's acclaimed graphic novel to life with a dark, atmospheric vision of Victorian London. The 2001 film immerses viewers in the fog-shrouded streets and gas-lit alleys where poverty and brutality intersect, photographed in shadowy detail by Peter Deming. Johnny Depp delivers a melancholic, haunted performance as an investigator whose gift for seeing truth comes at great personal cost, while Ian Holm is chillingly urbane as the royal physician with secrets to hide. The film doesn't shy away from the murders' violence while building an elaborate conspiracy theory around the Ripper's identity. Trevor Jones' moody score and the meticulous period production design create an oppressive atmosphere where danger lurks in every shadow and corruption festers behind every respectable façade.
