The Sonar Room has a treat in store for family audiences this March with a lively and witty adaptation of classic barnyard tales by renowned visual theatre company DNA Puppetry and Visual Theatre. Anybody over the age of two will be chuckling with delight, gripped with excitement and enchanted with the skill, wit and playfulness of this performance that has been enjoyed in Europe, Asia and Australia. DNA Puppetry and Visual Theatre is an English/Australian company celebrating 21 years of making theatre for families. ‘Chicken Licken’ is performed by Adam Bennett. Adam’s career in puppet
theatre dates back to 1988, and he has helped develop the use of puppetry for the likes of the Royal Lyceum Theatre, English National Opera, the Unicorn Theatre for Children and Theatre Rites. ‘Chicken Licken’ begins with baking bread. Events soon get out of hand as the chick is born from the egg and her adventures carry the amused interest of children and adults alike as she is nearly eaten by the hungry Foxy-Loxy. She then grows up to eventually outwit the hunter, her courage and wisdom triumphing over adversity in a gripping hide-and-seek chase sequence which
results in the hunter getting his come-uppance and baking success.
