John Hoffman Quintet (featuring Macy Cowcher)

John Hoffman is one of Australia’s premier trumpet/flugelhorn players whose biography reads like a who’s who of Jazz.  Having performed, toured and recorded with Woody Herman’s Herd, The Buddy Rich Big Band, The Glenn Miller Band, Sammy Davis Jr and Tony Bennett - John has also played alongside music luminaries including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billy Field, Olivia Newton-John, Jim Pugh and others to numerous to mention. His performance, and his stories, will undoubtedly make this one of the gigs of the year!

John will be joined onstage by his Perth Based Quintet, Kieran Hurley on Trombone, Jasper Lambert on Piano, Shane Pooley on Bass and Ric Eastman on Drums.  The guest vocalist for the evening will be Macy Cowcher - a young jazz singer, currently studying at WAAPA, who hails from the wheatbelt town of Williams and whose jazz stylings and soulful sound are far beyond her years.

Come and join us for a night of jazz, a night of stories, and a night of, as John outs it, “The Pretty Notes” as we pay homage to jazz standards past and present performed by some of the best in the business and led by the indomitable Mr Hoffman.
