Matty B is a pioneer in the Perth hip hop scene hailing from the Syllabolics crew. His work spands accross two decades and is considered one of the most thought provoking MC’s in the rap game. After receiving  high rotation air play on triple j for his song Fridays off the Courageous LP 2001,he then released  his second EP Simple But Effective in 2006. Then after a 16 year absence from the game and social media a reinvigorated Matty B brought out  his 16 track full album Chronica. This featured  a stable of syllabolics artists including Drapht , Bitter Beleif, Mortar, MJ with production from Optamus Dazastah, Uncool Sam  and Paulie P. Now in 2025 Matty B brings you Babylon a gritty account of a world in post covid crisis a social commentary of a world riddled with conflict , inflation, technology explosion and political correctness . Babylon sees Matty work closely with Rob Shaker and long time pit-boss  Optamus and of course Dazastah on production. For feature rappers Matty has stepped outside the syllabolics circle and brings tracks like No Next Time featuring Omac and Mysc from the Psych Ward  and  Death trap Featuring Coerce and Greesy of The Born Degenerates Crew two of the most potent and lyrically evolved rappers in the Perth scene. Matty himself has levelled up his game and Babylon sees  Matty spitting bars of fire that twist in and out of metaphor and reality. With Optamus  rapping on track Hellraisers this album definitely has some get out of your seat fun hip hip hop for live show punters and stay at home listeners. Mattys creative drive is alive and fully fired up in 2025.
