Flown the Coop: Hatched Afters is a first-time collaboration between PICA and The Bird, celebrating the opening night of the Hatched: National Graduate Show in its 35th year.

Following the exhibition opening, make your way to The Bird to continue the night’s festivities with music from a lineup of beloved Boorloo acts.

Kicking off the night, Melanija summons witch house and Latvian folk with accordion, vocals and guitar.

Great Statue appears as a well-slicked Laurie Anderson-wannabe from beneath a cheap disco light. A strange mix of a karaoke performance of the classics you have never heard.

Bad Whip the improvisational dance music duo of Alex Reid and Josiah Padmanabhan, explore pure improvisation and reactivity within a drum machine techno driven universe.

Blood Knows sees the world of DIY and alt pop songs come to life and Bad Whip explore pure improvisation and reactivity within a drum machine techno driven universe.

Multitalented and mad-skilled DJ, radio presenter, artist and designer Yikes, closes out the night at The Bird—with extended opening hours until 1am.

First Nations folk entry is free—email maile@pica.org.au to register.
