The Stems Garden Party
By popular demand evergreen Perth icons The Stems have announced another WA show on Saturday, March 29, at Port Beach Brewery!
The West Australian garage rock legends made a triumphant return to the live stage to celebrate their 40th anniversary in August-September of 2024 with a series of sold-out shows across Australia and Europe. The hugely successful tour meant that some fans missed out on tickets, so back by public demand, original members, Dom Mariani, Julian Matthews, and Dave Shaw and acclaimed guitarist Ashley Naylor (Even/Paul Kelly/The Church) are set to do it again in late March-April 2025 with a run of selective shows across Australia, including two in WA.
The Stems attained their own legendary status in the Australian and International music scene – roaring out of Perth with a sound and style that definitively captured the spirit and enthusiasm of sixties garage music - lurching fuzz-tone guitars, brooding organ, solid gold garage-punk, and primo power pop! The Stems not only created a distinctive sonic identity but also penned unforgettable songs while delivering electrifying live performances.
In the late '80s, The Stems achieved acclaim with a series of singles and EPs and the timeless At First Sight – Violet are Blue LP in 1987. The group disbanded in late 1987 and made a significant comeback in 2003, playing to sold-out crowds nationwide. Since then, they have continued to tour regularly in front of audiences across Australia, Europe, Japan, and the United States.
Following a sold-out show at Freo.Social in September, The Stems will headline a special Garden Party at Port Beach Brewery with an impressive guest lineup of Wesley Fuller (VIC), The High Learys, Ashley Naylor Spaceship (VIC), The Stingrays, The Satisfaction, The Jack Carrol Band and DJ Fang on Saturday, March 29. It’s a right royal outdoor live garage music fest with food trucks, cool merchandise, dancing in the sunshine and cold drinks aplenty.
