Tombstone (M, 1993) Presented in 35mm Film by The Revival House Perth in partnership with RAC

Legendary lawman Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) arrives in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, in 1879 seeking a peaceful retirement with his brothers Virgil (Sam Elliott) and Morgan (Bill Paxton). They plan to profit from the silver boom while avoiding the violence of their past. But Tombstone is terrorized by the Cowboys, a gang of outlaws led by "Curly Bill" Brocius (Powers Boothe) and the sadistic Johnny Ringo (Michael Biehn). When the Cowboys murder Morgan and cripple Virgil, Wyatt abandons retirement to wage a bloody vendetta. Pinning on the marshal's badge one last time, Wyatt forms a posse including the tubercular gambler Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer), his closest friend and deadliest ally. What follows is a ruthless campaign of justice as Wyatt and his allies hunt down the Cowboys across the Arizona desert, culminating in the legendary confrontation at the O.K. Corral.

Director George P. Cosmatos delivers the definitive Wyatt Earp film, a sprawling Western that balances historical detail with larger-than-life characters and spectacular action. Val Kilmer steals the film as Doc Holliday, delivering quotable lines with sardonic wit while conveying the dying gunfighter's fierce loyalty and death wish. Kurt Russell makes Wyatt both mythic and human, a man pushed beyond his limits who discovers savage purpose. The supporting cast creates a vivid frontier world, from Powers Boothe's menacing Curly Bill to Dana Delany and Joanna Pacula as the women who love these dangerous men. The shootout sequences are brutal and realistic, while William A. Fraker's cinematography captures Monument Valley's epic beauty. Bruce Broughton's score adds Western grandeur to this tale of friendship, revenge, and the thin line between law and lawlessness.
