Armageddon (M, 1998) Presented in 35mm Film by The Revival House Perth

When NASA discovers a massive asteroid the size of Texas is on a collision course with Earth, just eighteen days from total planetary annihilation, the space agency turns to an unlikely solution: recruiting veteran oil driller Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his rough-and-tumble crew of deep-core drillers to be trained as astronauts. Their impossible mission: land on the asteroid, drill deep into its core, and detonate a nuclear device to split it apart before it can destroy all life on Earth. As Harry's crew, including his daughter's boyfriend A.J. (Ben Affleck), undergo crash-course astronaut training and launch into space, they must contend with the psychological and physical toll of an impossible mission, personal tensions, and a ticking countdown to Earth's potential destruction.

Director Michael Bay delivers a bombastic, effects-driven disaster spectacle that embraces maximalist blockbuster filmmaking with unapologetic enthusiasm. The film's ensemble cast, including Billy Bob Thornton as NASA's beleaguered flight director, brings blue-collar authenticity and comic chemistry to the deliberately larger-than-life premise. Bay's kinetic, relentlessly paced direction packs the film with explosive set pieces, rapid-fire editing, and maximum emotional manipulation, creating a distinctly overblown but undeniably entertaining apocalyptic spectacle. The film's soundtrack, anchored by Aerosmith's ubiquitous power ballad "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," became inseparable from its cultural legacy, while Armageddon's massive commercial success cemented its status as a defining example of late-1990s disaster movie excess.

Original format and audio experience of this film faithfully reproduced by The Revival House. Presented in 35mm film unless noted otherwise.
