6:00PM - Timmy presents a recital that showcases his abilities as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, performing contemporary music with influences of jazz, R&B, neo-soul and fusion. Inspired by artists such as George Benson, Isaiah Sharkey, and Jordan Rakei, he strives to build on his influences and find his place in the music industry. Whether it be through performance, recording or songwriting, Timmy's artistry revolves around the concept of being an artist and a collaborator. Within this performance, the band will present repertoire reflecting the influences Timmy has developed over his years at WAAPA and prior, including original instrumental and vocal tunes. These tunes each have a place in his approach as a musician, demonstrating guitar, vocal and songwriting ability. From high-energy to intricate moments, Timmy moulds his experiences to present himself as an artist.
7:05PM - Currently studying a Bachelor Of Music degree at WAAPA, Schenay is passionate about connecting people through music. Influenced by singer/songwriters such as Raye and Goldford, her warm, soulful voice, raw originals and creative covers captivate every audience. Schenay's WAAPA graduation recital, 'Choosing Joy', is designed to take the audience on a musical journey that explores joy through many different lenses, and the meaning of joy itself. By looking at various aspects of joy, sadness, hope and loss, Schenay showcases through song what it means to choose joy despite the circumstances we find ourselves in.
8:10PM - Eva Matyear is a 22-year-old Australian singer studying a Bachelor of Music (Contemporary Performance) at WAAPA who loves to create food for the ears. Taking inspiration from the likes of Esperanza Spalding, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Cleo Sol, Hiatus Kaiyote and Yebba, she loves crossing genres of RnB, Neo-soul, soul and jazz-influenced contemporary, performing music with big, complex melodies and harmonies that stray away from the typical ‘pop’ sound, whilst keeping that modern feel in the music. Featuring primarily original work, her end-of-year recital will draw upon these styles and artistic influences, exploring themes of emotional experience and internal reflection throughout the set.
9:15PM - Shawn Lee is a charismatic, soulful and emotionally-driven singer/songwriter based in Perth, WA originally from Kuching, Malaysia. She prioritises passion and creativity in every performance whether that be a paid gig or on a big recital stage. In addition to Contemporary Music, she’s grown up training in Classical and Musical Theatre now using skills from every facet. She’s found her home in Pop-Rock, Indie-Pop and Gospel music and loves anything nostalgic. Pulling inspiration from Paramore, Olivia Rodrigo and Lizzy McAlpine, her WAAPA Graduation Recital will showcase her versatility with original music and creative arrangements featuring tunes from Jeff Buckley, Raye and even Matilda The Musical. Concluding her Bachelor’s in Contemporary Music alongside like minded musicians, Shawn considers her audience feeling her genuine emotions with her to always be the greatest success in her career.
