Theo soon discovers the woman, Kee (Claire-Hope Ashitey), harbours humanity's last hope: she's inexplicably pregnant, the first pregnancy in eighteen years. As various factions ruthlessly pursue Kee for their own political ends, Theo must guide her through a collapsing, increasingly violent Britain to reach a mythical sanctuary that might offer humanity a genuine future.

Director Alfonso Cuarón delivers a visceral, technically extraordinary dystopian thriller, renowned for its immersive long-take action sequences that place audiences directly within the film's chaotic, crumbling world. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki's remarkable unbroken tracking shots, particularly during the film's harrowing refugee camp and combat sequences, create a documentary-like sense of visceral immediacy rarely achieved in science fiction cinema.
