Teen Wolf at Revival House Perth

Before he was a Hollywood heavyweight, Michael J. Fox was America's favorite teenage werewolf in this gloriously silly 1985 comedy that somehow makes lycanthropy a metaphor for puberty—and turns high school basketball into must-see cinema.

Fox plays Scott Howard, an average high school kid struggling with grades, basketball, and getting the girl's attention—until he discovers he's inherited the family curse of turning into a werewolf. But instead of hiding his condition, Scott embraces it, using his wolf abilities to become the school's basketball star and most popular student. As the fur flies and his ego grows, Scott must figure out whether being the wolf is worth losing himself.

Director Rod Daniel creates pure '80s magic—big hair, synthesizer soundtrack, and a "be yourself" message delivered with zero subtlety and maximum charm. The practical werewolf effects are endearingly low-budget, Fox's physical comedy is spot-on, and the film's complete sincerity about a werewolf playing basketball makes it irresistible. The famous "van surfing" scene became iconic, and the climactic game where Scott plays as himself (not the wolf) delivers genuine uplift.

James Hampton brings warmth as Scott's werewolf dad, while the supporting cast fully commits to treating teen lycanthropy as completely normal. Look closely during the final celebration scene for the film's most infamous blooper—an extra in the background exposing himself (seriously, it's there).

Pure '80s comfort food—ridiculous, innocent, and impossible not to love.

Present in authentic 35mm film for the true cinematic experience!
