Mahamudo Selimane is a renowned musician from Mozambique that has toured around the world with his band Eyuphuro and is now based in Perth, where he regularly performs. He is a multi-instrumentalist and plays multiple styles of music from Rhumba, Kwasakwasa, Sokous and more. Mararo is an actor and writer from Kenya that is based in Perth and has performed for and developed work with a number of Australian theaters. Mahamudo and Mararo met in Perth and worked together on the hit show Black Brass for Perth Festival in 2021, Sydney Festival in 2022, Bloemfontein South Africa in 2023, Albany and Geraldton in 2023. As Black Brass was a theatrical work that centered music, during their tour the pair decided to commit to collaborate on a purely music focused project, following the incredible feedback from audiences and now here it is. The launch of this CD will feature Lucky Ocean on Steel Guitar, Michael Boase on Drums, Tom Greble on Saxophone, John Wilson on Bass, Mararo Wangai on Vocals and Mahamudo Selimane on Guitar and Vocals. Khululeko which means Freedom in Xangana is an album that celebrates the universal spirit of Freedom in the face of oppression, war-mongering, and the borders created by capitalistic forces. This album is a healing balm for a chaotic world torn by war, oppression and indifference. We urge our Black Brass audience and music lovers to come join us for this CD launch and support us by buying the album
