The Summer Swells and Winter Swells series of shows has brought a most excellent selection of artists through to the Indian Ocean Hotel with stunning performances from artists such as Steph Strings, Caravana Sun, Jordy Maxwell, Sunday Lemonade, Mitch Santiago and heaps more.
Sunday the 15th of November we are introducing a very exciting Triple Header show with Matt Cal (duo), Kiera Jas & Michael Ward (Duo).
There is extremely deep experience and talent across this lineup and these home grown legends are bringing you their best as we roll towards Summer.
Enjoy an evening of Blues, Roots & coastal folk and experience some of WA's award winning talent just beyond the high tide mark of Scarborough Beach. No better way to wrap up a weekend than to experience live music at this award winning venue.
Kiera Jas
One of WA’s finest folk musicians’, Kiera Jas is bringing a new flare of folk-rock to the Australian music scene. Originally from Margaret River, Jas is now an established Perth artist that continues to captivate audiences with her bright melodies and heartfelt lyrics. She flawlessly moves between various instruments to create an enthralling live set and leaves her listeners feeling joyous and calm long after the last note has played.
Matt Cal
Influenced by the classic Australian nature of artists such as Paul Kelly to the power and musicality of Neil Young and the effervescent pop sensibility of artist’s like Vance Joy, Matt weaves a charming relaxed nature thru blues influenced acoustic folk ballads.
Recent highlights include supporting rising Australian star Steph Strings, touring WA with Australia’s leading roots song-writer and slide guitarist Jeff Lang to which Kalamunda hosted a sold-out show in 2020 and hosting Kalamunda’s Songwriters Round Table to rave reviews in 2019, 20 and 21
With multiple nominations for Western Australian Song Of the Year and a win in the Blues and Roots category in 2011 with his track Overdrive, Matt has performed across the state on countless tours and played many of WA’s best Festivals such as Nannup Music Festival, Blues At Bridgetown, Denmark Festival Of The Voice, Blossum Festival and many more.
Michael Ward
Raised on the salty coastal swamplands of Stratham in regional WA Michael has spent decades performing live music around regional WA and across Australia. His music is fusion of Blues, Roots, Alt Country and solid Aussie Rock all driven with a freight train of energy and passion.
The dedication to his music, live shows, touring and promotion has also resulted in Michael being named as a finalist for the 2025 WA WAM Awards and is one of Perth’s most prolific independent touring original artists. Michael has released numerous studio recordings which have gained thousands of radio plays both domestically and overseas including airtime on Australia’s Triple J networks as well as clocking up over 100,000 streams on spotify.
Michael’s latest release No Regrets has been recieved exceptionally well when performed live as well as winning the #1 National Countdown for the Grassroots earworm Homegrown Hundred & was Top 20 WAM Song of the year (Blues & Roots) 2026.
