Rising Perth singer, songwriter and producer Newport today shares bittersweet new single ‘Fickle’, a track that has already garnered millions of views on socials prior to its release. Alongside the release, Newport also announces an Australian headline tour for October. Written, produced and recorded in his bedroom following a period of creative stagnation, ‘Fickle’ refects on a turbulent relationship through the lens of acceptance – even though a relationship was fleeting and imperfect, you wouldn't change it.

Sharing a demo of ‘Fickle’ on his socials earlier this month, the snippet has already reached over 3 million views with 500,000 interactions across socials, with fans pleading for Newport to release the song. “Fickle felt like a reward from the universe. I'd been stuck, unable to write anything that truly inspired me or resonated with me.

So I took time off being creative and did a lot of inner healing, eventually coming to a sense of acceptance about a lot of things in terms of past turbulent relationships, missing my childhood, identity crises. Then one day I stumbled into making this song. I was watching YouTube with my guitar plugged into the amp, just playing around with chords, until I landed on something that felt really good.

After that I was in a complete fow state and made most of what you hear today in one sitting.” To celebrate the release of ‘Fickle’, Newport will be heading on an Australian headline tour in October. Kicking off at the Bergy Bandroom in Melbourne on Friday, 2 October, Newport will then head to Port Macquarie for a set at Hideaway Festival on Saturday, 3 October, followed by The Brightside Indoors on Sunday 4 October.

The following week he will play a hometown show in Perth at the Indian Ocean Hotel on Friday 9 October, followed by a Bunbury show on Saturday, 10 October at Froth Craft. Newport will then head to the Jive in Adelaide on Friday, 30 October and wrap in Sydney on Saturday, 31 October at The Botany View Hotel.

‘Fickle’ follows Newport’s latest single ‘carry’, a deeply emotional track that has already clocked over 1.5 million streams on DSPs, praised by the likes of SZA and David Kushner and added to triple j rotation. With now over 11 million streams to his name, Newport has established himself as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging stars.

This year Newport was selected as one of triple J Unearthed’s Forecast Artists of 2026, as well as gracing the covers of Spotify’s Fresh Finds and *hits different*, and YouTube Music’s Alt-Pop Now. He was last year spotlighted by Apple Music as an Up Next artist and celebrated as a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist. From creating music in his bedroom to connecting with thousands of listeners worldwide, Newport’s moment has arrived with ‘Fickle’.
