The Goonies at The Revival House Perth

When the Walsh family faces foreclosure on their home in the Goon Docks neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, young Mikey (Sean Astin) and his friends refuse to accept defeat. Discovering an ancient treasure map in his attic, Mikey convinces his older brother Brand (Josh Brolin) and fellow Goonies—motormouth Mouth (Corey Feldman), inventor Data (Ke Huy Quan), and perpetually hungry Chunk (Jeff Cohen)—to search for the legendary treasure of One-Eyed Willy, a pirate whose riches could save their homes. Joined by Brand's crush Andy (Kerri Green) and troublemaker Stef (Martha Plimpton), the kids follow a trail of booby traps through underground caverns, unaware they're being pursued by the murderous Fratelli crime family who want the treasure for themselves. What follows is the adventure of a lifetime, complete with skeletons, water slides, and a pirate ship that defies imagination.

Director Richard Donner and producer/writer Steven Spielberg crafted the ultimate kids' adventure film in 1985, capturing that precious moment of childhood when anything seems possible and friendship conquers all. The young cast's natural chemistry and overlapping dialogue give the film an authentic energy—these feel like real kids having a real adventure, not actors reciting lines. The practical sets and effects remain spectacular, particularly the stunning full-scale pirate galleon built for the climax. Dave Grusin's rousing score and Cyndi Lauper's unforgettable theme song "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" perfectly capture the film's spirit of wide-eyed wonder and determination. Sloth (John Matuszak) and his "Hey you guys!" became instantly iconic.
