Scooby-Doo at The Revival House Perth

The Mystery Inc. gang hits the big screen in this live-action adventure that brings everyone's favorite meddling kids and their cowardly Great Dane to life. Two years after a bitter breakup scattered the team, Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), and Scooby-Doo are reluctantly reunited when they're separately invited to investigate strange happenings at Spooky Island, a tropical resort where college spring breakers arrive as carefree party-goers and leave as soulless zombies. As the gang navigates their unresolved tensions and trust issues, they uncover a sinister plot involving ancient demons, possessed tourists, and a mystery that will test whether their friendship can survive—and whether they can save the world in the process.

Director Raja Gosnell balances nostalgic reverence for the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon with cheeky self-awareness and genuine heart. Matthew Lillard's pitch-perfect embodiment of Shaggy steals every scene alongside a remarkably expressive CGI Scooby-Doo, while the film playfully subverts the formula fans know by heart—yes, Fred really does love his ascot, and someone finally questions why the gang always splits up. The film's bright, colorful production design captures the cartoon's aesthetic while the mystery delivers genuine twists. It's a loving tribute that works both as gateway for new fans and as a knowing wink to those who grew up unmasking villains every Saturday morning.
