Big Trouble in Little China at Revival House Perth Thursdays On 35mm

It's all in the reflexes! John Carpenter's wildly entertaining 1986 action-fantasy extravaganza follows truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) as he gets caught up in an ancient supernatural war beneath the streets of San Francisco's Chinatown. When his friend's fiancée is kidnapped by the mystical villain Lo Pan (James Hong), Jack finds himself battling sorcerers, martial arts masters, and creatures that defy all logic.

Russell delivers one of his most charismatic performances as the all-American hero who's completely out of his depth in a world of ancient magic and flying warriors. Carpenter blends martial arts action with horror elements and his signature synthesizer score to create a unique genre-bending adventure that's equal parts thrilling and hilarious.

The film's spectacular practical effects, wire-fu action sequences, and larger-than-life characters create a comic book come to life. From the Three Storms (Thunder, Rain, and Lightning) to the legendary David Lo Pan himself, every villain is memorably over-the-top. Kim Cattrall and Dennis Dun provide excellent support in this celebration of B-movie excess done with A-movie craftsmanship.
