Acclaimed alt-pop singer-songwriter Angie Colman is set to release the first chapter of her debut album, How Do I Make My Life Slow Down? - Out June 27 via Blue Grey Pink. Raw and introspective, the six-track collection showcases her signature blend of folk intimacy and indie-pop sensibility, marking a deeply personal evolution for one of Australia’s most compelling new voices.

A WAM Award winner, RAC Arena Limelight Award recipient, and triple j Unearthed Feature Artist, Angie Colman has earned a devoted following for her honest and emotionally resonant songwriting. She has shared stages with Crowded House, Ball Park Music, and Sarah Blasko, and made her international live debut in early 2025. Whether on record or on stage, her music continues to connect deeply with audiences drawn to its vulnerability, power, and heart.

“This release has taken an interesting path. It was originally meant to be a six-track EP, but eventually became the first chapter of a ten-track full-length album. These six songs of How Do I Make My Life Slow Down? Part 1 were all written together, and they centre around the idea of growth, getting older, changing relationships, changing yourself. Each song in Part 1 is kind of a lightbulb moment for me in realising what kind of person I am,” says Colman.

At the heart of the release is its title track, which opens the record and sets the tone for what follows. “It feels like the thesis statement - not just for Part 1, but for the whole record,” Colman shares. “I’m constantly overwhelmed by the fear of only having one life, and not knowing the right way to live it to come out the end of it feeling fulfilled. There’s so much I want to do, and I never feel like I have enough time. And it’s that kinda pull between excitement, sadness, urgency and calm that’s really what the album tries to get across. Sonically as well, so many of the tracks are so different to one another.”

Recorded with Ryan K Brennan (Phantastic Ferniture, Julia Jacklin), How Do I Make My Life Slow Down? Part 1 is a thoughtful and sonically rich chapter in Colman’s rising career. Featuring contributions from Sarah Curran, Kieran Barnes, Miles Gilbert, Georgina Crammond, and mastering by Andrew Edgson, the album brings together a talented cast to support Colman’s deeply personal vision. “The recording process was pretty tough for me, but super rewarding,” she shares. “I spent so much time with these six songs on my own, which made me feel even more connected to them. I think that’s why they feel so honest.” With the addition of what Colman describes as “fat juicy strings”, the songs found their emotional and sonic fullness. “It really softens a bit of the anger and hurt that’s in there,” she explains, highlighting the raw vulnerability and quiet strength that define this body of work.

“These songs weren’t written to be big moments, but they make emotional sense as a body of work… I really love them, and I hope other people do too.”

Angie Colman and her band will be launching How Do I Make My Life Slow Down? Part 1 on Saturday 28 June at The Bird, Northbridge WA, with support from Blush and Edie. More info and tickets via https://linktr.ee/angiecolman
