The Kinks are recognised as one of the most important and influential British rock groups of all time. From their explosive beginnings as part of the British Beat movement to forays into concept albums, stadium rock, and acoustic balladeering, The Kinks have left an unimpeachable legacy of classic songs, many of which form the building blocks of popular music as we know it today.

As a counterpoint to his brother Dave’s aggressive guitar sound, Sir Ray Davies’ wry, observational lyrics shaped The Kinks’ quintessential English style. So influential on British bands, from The Who and The Jam to The Smiths, Oasis and Blur, that Davies has been dubbed “The Godfather of Britpop”.

The Kinks have sold more than 50 million records worldwide. At their peak they had 13 Top 10 hits between 1964-1970. They’ve influenced artists across multiple generations and styles and their songs have been covered by: David Bowie, Van Halen, The Jam, Iggy Pop, Def Leppard, Metallica, The Stranglers, Joan Jett, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, Kirsty MacColl, Hank Marvin, Madness, Bad Manners, Toots & The Maytals, The Pretenders, Sly Stone, Blur’s Damon Albarn, Billy Corgan, The Kooks, Supergrass, Queens of the Stone Age and Green Day.

For the first time, Dedicated Followers of Fashion are bringing the music of The Kinks to the stage. Led by WA’s and Hensteeth’s own Guitarist of the Year, Steve Hensby, the band features Alex Hardy (guitar, backing vocals) Leigh Miller (bass) Elysia Murphy (keys, backing vocals, percussion) and Greg Brenton (drums) playing two sets of unadulterated Kinks tunes. From rock belters, 'You Really Got Me' and 'All Day and All Of the Night', to beautifully-crafted ballads like 'Waterloo Sunset' and crowd sing-along favourites, 'Sunny Afternoon' and 'Lola'.

Prizes for the best dressed, so don your finest, most dapper 60s/Mod attire and join the Dedicated Followers of Fashion as they bring to life the sounds of the swinging 60s, joined onstage by fabulously energetic Go-Go dancers. The night will be held together seamlessly by Perth’s very own Modfather, DJ General Justice on the decks, spinning the best soul, RnB, northern soul and mod sounds.
