‘Energetic Physical Presence and Power’ instantly describes what you can expect from Blue Shaddy

Blue Shaddy are an Australian Blue’s / Root’s band formed in 1999, independently releasing four albums that have been showcased in the United States through Tin Records. Nominated for the Tin Records 2007 new music compilation.

Blue Shaddy have been causing a commotion in the Eastern States recently playing to a 15000 strong audience at the Blues on Broadbeach Festival in Queensland, Then skipping down to Sydney to play aboard the first ever P&O Blue’s Cruise. Things have been hectic to say the least. Now they are back in the west and bringing it to the Kununurra Agriculture Show Saturday 9th July 2016.

Blue Shaddy are a band with a genuine chemistry between its members. The fact the half the band are from the same family probably has a lot to do with their musical bond. Jim McClelland (singer songwriter / guitarist) Jim’s wife Sandy (bass guitar/vocals) and Brother Graham (belly) harmonica, and now once again after some 15 years apart, they once again have Mr. Dean Wuksta on the drum kit. Dean and Sandy together produce a very solid fat back funky groove laden rhythm section delivering their music with unpretentious honesty and sheer enjoyment.

Born and bred in the Western Australian town of Kellerberrin, Blue Shaddy's musical path was inevitable. With brothers Jim and Belly would trade guitar and harmonica licks for hours on end around the table in the small farm house they shared. A chance meeting soon after with like-minded, and also musically spirited ‘Sandy’ found her also sitting at that same table going through what was to become the Blue Shaddy apprenticeship. With these three the driving force behind Blue Shaddy a band is still not complete without a drummer.

Having had the pleasure of playing with some of Australia’s finest skin men over the years, Blue Shaddy have now had the pleasure of welcoming Dean Wuksta back to the band after some 15 or so years. Dean was the original drummer for Blue Shaddy way back when the band began and it seems the Kernel has it right …the original recipe is always the best. Combined with Sandy’s rock solid commitment to holding down the groove, and Dean’s fat back solid feel, these two have molded a tangible chemistry. Having played together almost every night for the first 10 years of Blue Shaddy, these two have passed their apprentership with flying colors, allowing Jim and Belly the freedom to once again trade those licks and bring together their exuberance and understanding of each other’s musical talents.

"The result is a whirlpool of foot stomping infectious energy that leaves you with a broad smile and a new found energy."
